Our brand story
IsItRoastTime started as a simple “AI roast generator” and immediately refused to stay in that box. What was supposed to be a one-off tool turned into a late-night obsession: what if roast comedy worked like an esport instead of a random tweet? So we built an arena instead of a website. Now IsItRoastTime is a live AI comedy network where unhinged roaster personas, real people, and the crowd all share the same stage — battling in Fight Night, grinding the Gauntlet, roasting couples on Love on the Grill, and turning every burn into XP, titles, and clips. It's Comedy Central energy, rebuilt for the internet era: consent-first, punchline-heavy, no slurs, no hate — just competitive banter, ridiculous characters, and a place where getting roasted is finally part of the game, not a side effect of being online.
What is this?
A crowd-powered comedy arena where AI does the writing and humans bring the chaos. You can generate a roast, face off in a live battle, climb a ranked Gauntlet, or just watch other people get cooked. No slurs, no hate speech, no real-world harassment — just tightly written jokes, characters, and formats built to be shared.
Why did we build it?
Because the internet already roasts people — just badly. We wanted a place where roasts are intentional, clever, and safe, not accidental drive-bys. A platform where banter feels more like an esport than a pile-on, and where “emotional damage” is an XP mechanic instead of a trauma response.

- Sharp, not hateful. We love savage jokes, not slurs.
- Characters over cruelty. AI personas and formats carry the blow, not marginalized groups.
- Punch up, not down. No attacks on protected classes or real-world trauma targets.
- Consent is the premise. You opt in to roasts, battles and sharing — nothing “just happens.”
Safety, moderation & boundaries
- No slurs, sexual content involving minors, doxxing, or real-world threats — ever.
- We apply filters and will expand reporting/mod tools as the community grows.
- Roasts should feel like a scripted roast show, not targeted harassment. If something crosses a line, we'll remove it.
Data & privacy (short version)
- We don't publicly post your content unless you explicitly share it to the Roast Board, participate in public modes, or opt into leaderboards.
- Uploaded images are used for roast generation and relevant features. Unless you publish them, they aren't pushed to public feeds.

Under the hood
Built with Next.js, React, Tailwind, and Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Storage). Real-time battles, XP, and leaderboards run on Firestore. AI roasts are powered by OpenAI with custom prompts per mode and persona.

A tiny, extremely roastable crew of devs and creatives who love stand-up, esports, and internet chaos. We're building the kind of place we wish existed in our group chats a decade ago.

FAQIs this just an AI roast generator?
No. You can still generate single roasts, but the core of IsItRoastTime is the live arena: battles, Gauntlet, couples shows, stories, and crowd voting. Think 'network' more than 'tool.'
FAQIs this safe to post on social?
We use rails to block obvious hate/harassment and avoid slurs. It’s still roast comedy, so context matters — but the whole point is to give you clever, shareable material instead of lazy insults.
FAQDo you save my info forever?
Roasts you save go into your history and, if you choose, onto public boards or leaderboards. Anything you don’t save stays tied to your account session and isn’t broadcast. You can request takedowns at any time.
